A few of my favourite things

A new way to light up your favourite thing/s in the world....... literally.  Sweden designer Chen Karlsson has made the most awesome lights that you can display your fav trinkets in.  From now on it's not going straight to the pool room but rather the light fitting. I want one for every room in my house!

A Hobes Hello

Nothing much more to say except..... I want some.... so bad.

What I also LOVE being able to say is that they are locally designed and made by Melbourne people. Hello Hobes.

Going Global

You will soon realise that I LOVE well designed items, and that I LOVE even more, well designed items that are made from recycled products (I think there may be a hippy living in me somewhere) It's good to see people re-using items but also considering good design and aesthetic and I intend to post all the goodies I come across.

This post comes from my love of maps.

Jean from Sydney is getting involved with furniture

Love. Runs like clockwork

My next boyfriend will be getting these as a present from me.

They are by 19 moons sold on Etsy.  They are so hot and sexy and will go so seamlessly with the rest of his outfit which would look something like this

If this looks and sounds like you..... apply within..... like, now.

Kiwi Knives - Made in Thailand - Sold to an Australian Girl

I love going to Asian groceries, probably because it's going into a world that I just don't know. The smell, the products, the foods, the language. I could spend hours in there inspecting the details of all the beautiful labels on products that are god knows what used in dishes that I would never know how to make.

Recently I decided I would invest in some knives - the good kind - and I have started my journey in understanding what is a good knife. Japanese or Western Steel, Hard blade or Soft, Thin or thick, Rubber handle or metal handle, rivets or none, how stainless and how alloy do you want to take it, single or block - so many things to think about.... and so many opinions and passionate ones at that which has been amazingly wonderful to find out. Food brings out the creative culturalist in everyone.

But my friend Danno told me to hold the phone, true, she owns a few Japanese branded knives that needed a mortgage to buy, but she said at the end of the day, the asians don't f*** around when it comes to cooking and working fast in the kitchen and the furthest I needed to look was my local asian grocer to find a kiwi brand knife. I bought 3. The most expensive one cost me $3.50. The way it cuts has changed my life. Get one. seriously.

Skully Wully

When I was leaving a job once the staff rallied around and bought me a leaving present, a gun metal ring, square shaped and set in silver, very beautiful but it was far too big for my finger and they couldn't re-size it so I had to go to Melbourne Jewellery shop Glitzern and swap it out and it's a bloody good thing too because otherwise I would never have found him.

My skully wully ring. He is my most favourite thing. ever.

This cute little fella staring out at me, from the shelf, saying "wear me!", and like cinderella and her glass slipper, he fit me perfectly. It was meant to be, destiny, if you will  I think he is adorable, some people say he is morbid but I just think they are jerks and just jealous.

My driftwood skull ring comes from the company Driftwood, a japanese duo based in New York (of course).

Look mum, no plug

So you live in a share house and everyone wants their own music system in their room leaving nothing in the kitchen and lounge but silence.  Or you're actually a povo student in a dorm that can't even afford a rocking speaker system.  Or you are camping or bumming round at the beach with your mates and you want some ambience and if you all just use your own headphones you may as well just be by yourself.

Relate to any of these stories? I have to pretty much all of them and not only have I found an answer.... I have found an answer that is sexy and sleek and oh so simple, it doesn't even need it's own power.

The kids at speakr box have provided us with the BEST solution, if you have a musical device (even that old skool walkman you cruised around with in the 80's) that requires a headphone jack.... then you got music baby. Love Love Love it.

Badges - the new t-shirt slogan

It's all about badges right now...... with a witty slogan.  And there is no better than the badges made my Kearnsie in fact when I first saw them I purchased one straight away and made it the the title of my first blog, it absolutely summed me up to a tee.... Hello, I'm doing my Best.  In fact if I had a dollar for every person who has told me that it actually sums them up as well to a tee I would be a billionaire.  Well ok fine, maybe about $100 bucks richer but the point is they are rad.

Yeah Yeah I know what you are going to say, you don't like being tied down and limited to one sentence, one catch phrase. That's fine, other rad jewellry designers such as Zoe Brand are giving you ways to say what you feel at any time with blackboard badges!

What's that Kearnsie? Do I like stuff? Yes. I do. I like your stuff.

For Coffee Lovers (that also love the world)

I have to say I have been naughty over the years, the take away cup is the perfect size, shape and look to have a coffee that I have been known to order my take in coffee in a take out cup (I know so bad) But finally I can sleep soundly once again knowing I have done my bit for the environment and haven't compromised one bit on the "cool" take away cup look. I have just purchased my very own BYO coffee cup from Hookturn - who have designed the "keep" cup to look like a normal take away cup. So simple. So Cool. So Green. Love it.

FML - F@#* my life

If you are ever feeling crappy about your day, and you are convinced you have the worst life in the world, then hop onto this website, FML, chances are someone here will beat you and you will be laughing so much at the posts, that you will have forgotten why your day was so crappy in the first place. If that doesn't happen and your story, in fact, craps on all those crappy tales, then you can add it to the site - you may as well do something with your sodding story!
